Eve of Darkness

This is the first book in the Marked series by S J Day.

Book Blurb:

Cursed by God, hunted by demons, desired by Cain and Abel... All in a day's work.

For Evangeline Hollis, a long-ago fling with a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks just became a disaster of biblical proportions. One night with a leather-clad man of mystery has led to a divine punishment: the Mark of Cain.

Thrust into a world where sinners are drafted to kill demons, Eve knows her learning curve must be short. A longtime agnostic, she begrudgingly maneuvers through a celestial bureaucracy where she is a valuable but ill-treated pawn. She's also become the latest point of contention in the oldest case of sibling rivalry in history...

But she'll worry about all that later. Right now she's more concerned with learning to kill while staying alive. And saving the soul she'd never quite believed she had.

This was a pretty fast paced read. Plenty of action - plenty of steamy sexy stuff and characters that are very compelling.

The premise of this book is new (to me, I haven't read anything like this before) and very thought provoking. It had me wondering. :)

I enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest in the series.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. :)

I've read Sylvia Day's historicals and I think one or two of her paranormals but I haven't tried any of the books from her SJ Day series. The covers are stunning.

I had this series on my list when I first discovered it, but the closer it got to release day I removed it. I'm not so sure I'd like it. I don't know though. I do read her historicals and really like those.

Hi Michelle!

I've been meaning to look into this series, but I just haven't gotten around to it. I love the cover art, always pulls me in. I'll have to look for them. My TBR is amazing presently....lol.

Anna,

Chapter 8? But how many books are you reading at one time? LOL I'm glad you are enjoying it. :)

Barbara,

I have not read any of her historicals - I'm not much into historicals unless they are paranormal historicals. :) Throw in a were or vamp or the like and I'll read anything. LOL

Amy,

Not having read her historicals I can't compare the 2 series - this was well written and overall a pretty good read. :)

Dottie,

I am the same with the covers - usually that is what makes me pick up a book in the first place. I have noticed over the years that book covers are becoming more fantastic. I just love it. They are like little pieces of art. :)

LOL! Michelle you know me too well. I'm reading another along with it. I'm on Chapter 13. I'll probably finish it up tomorrow if not before.

I have read one of Sylvia's fantasy romances and didnt like it all that much. I'll have to check out the Historicals.

I've never read any book by this author yet. And by the look of the cover art I am not tempted to pick it up at all. Though the caption at the back didn't sound too bad. But if you gave it a 4 out of 5, must be worth reading. I'll put Eve of Darkness in my ever growing TBR list.

Cherry,

I feel no pressure at all - not. Now I'm thinking, what if she reads it and doesn't like it? It will be all my fault. :)
