Playing with Fire - tales of an extraordinary girl

This novel is by Gena Showalter.

Book Blurb:

Earth, Wind & Fire aren't just a band anymore . . .

Used to be my greatest achievement was holding a job more than three days. Now suddenly I can shoot fireballs, chill your drink, or blow-dry your hair at fifty paces with a blink of my eye!

It all started when this crazy scientist dropped something in my Grande Mocha Latte. Of course I got wicked sick. Next morning I'm waking up with this total hottie bending over me. He tells me 1)his name's Rome Masters, 2)he's a government agent and 3)I can control the four elements with a thought.

He seems even less pleased by my (apparently irreversible) transformation than I am . . . Because now he'll have to kill me.

This was a fun, quick read.

Belle Jamison is your average working class girl - but she feels stuck in a run down job - going no where fast. She just wants a change, something different. Didn't someone say, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it?

Belle got it alright - and then some.

I really wish this had been made into a series rather than a stand alone novel. I love these characters and would be willing to follow there story further. :)

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I also love the Lords of the Underworld series - I can't wait for the new one. :) I had no idea about this book - I was surprised at the number of stand alone novels Ms. Showalter has written. :)

I am having a wonderful day and hope you are as well. :)

My 'tbr' shelf is over flowing. I can't keep up with the new releases. LOL For every book I read it seems like 5 new ones come out. :) I'm not complaining though - not at all. As long as they are on the shelf I'll get to them one day.

I loved this book too. It's really funny. There was this scene where Belle had her job interview and I wasn't able to stop giggling.
But I thought there should come a Book 2 in 2010 "Twice as Hot"( look here:

Great review.
