This is the 2nd book in the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill.
Book Blurb:
The story of a young heiress's initiation into the dark society of the Chicagoland Vampires continues.
Ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago, they're enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the Raves - mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle - the citizens will start sharpening their stakes.
So now it's up to the new vampire Merit to reconnect with her upper class family and act as liaison between humans and bloodsuckers, and keep the more unsavory aspects of the vampire lifestyle out of the media. But someone doesn't want peace between them - someone with an ancient grudge.
Due Out October 6, 2009
And it looks like Chloe Neill has an upcoming YA book (series?) in the works. The first Novel of the Dark Elite series is called Firespell.
Book Blurb:
As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia’s boarding school, Lily Parker thinks her classmates are the most monstrous things she’ll have to face…
When Lily’s guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, she was shocked. So was St. Sophia’s. Lily’s ultra-rich brat pack classmates think Lily should be the punchline to every joke, and on top of that, she’s hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building.
The only thing keeping her sane is her roommate, Scout, but even Scout’s a little weird—she keeps disappearing late at night and won’t tell Lily where she’s been. But when a prank leaves Lily trapped in the catacombs beneath the school, Lily finds Scout running from a real monster.
Scout’s a member of a splinter group of rebel teens with unique magical talents, who’ve sworn to protect the city against demons, vampires, and Reapers, magic users who’ve been corrupted by their power. And when Lily finds herself in the line of a firespell, Scout tells her the truth about her secret life, even though Lily has no powers of her own—at least none that she’s discovered yet…
Due Out January 5, 2010

Wow, doesn't it seem like a TON of authors are releasing YA novels. I guess with the success of the 'Twilight Saga', authors are jumping onto the money train...
I've never heard of this author but the cover is pretty cool and the blub ain't bad either.
Thanks for the heads up Michelle!
:) VFG
VFG,
I've read the first book in this series and it was pretty good - enough so that I'm looking forward to this new one. :)
As for the YA book - I agree with you. It seems like more and more authors are jumping on the YA bandwagon...I don't think that is a bad thing - it just makes me wonder how well the books are going to turn out.

Hi, Michelle! Thanks for the promo. I'll be posting the first chapter of FIRESPELL probably early in the fall so you can get a taste of Lily's story then... :)
Best,
Chloe
I just finished reading Some Girls Bite last night. I loved it! October 6th can't get here fast enough.
Awesome cover art Michelle!
While I'm not much into the YA genre, there sure is plenty for young readers to choose from now which is great!
Thanks for the heads-up. :)

Hey Michelle! Thanks for the heads up!
I do agree with you though, that there are alot of YA authors coming out. I guess our books have more "sex" in them than the younger verison, which is great. So, anything to get our youth to read... I am all for. And it is nice to see the choices for the youth to chose from!
I hope you had a great weekend!
Hi Michelle - I'm counting down to Friday Night Bites! :) Thanks for sharing the info on Firespell!
Loved Some Girls Bite - waiting for Friday Night Bites. (I'm a sucker for a love triangle!). A lot of my favorite authors are doing YA stuff, but so far I've resisted. I guess I should break down and check them out.
