Mailbox Monday

Good Monday morning all. :) I hope everyone has a wonderful week and for those in the US - a wonderful Thanksgiving on Thursday. :)

Here are a couple of the books I received from paperbackswap last week. :)

Book Blurb:

Taya soars over Ondinium on metal wings. She is an icarus - a courier privileged to travel freely across the city's sectors and mingle indiscriminately among its castes. But even she can't outfly the web of terrorism, loyalty, murder, and intrigue that snares her after a daring mid-air rescue.

Taya finds herself entangled with the Forlore brothers, scions of an upperclass family: handsome, brillant Alister, who sits on the governing council and writes programs for the Great Engine; and awkward, sharp-tongued Cristof, who has exiled himself from his caste and repairs clocks in Ondinium's lowest sector.

Both hide dangero
us secrets, in this city that beats to the ticking of a clockwork heart....

And

Book Blurb:

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.

Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire -- and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.

With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

SOULLESS is a comedy of manners set in Victorian London: full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.

I am looking forward to both of these...something a little different from my normal paranormal romance. :)

Happy Reading.

Oh Clockwork Heart! That is one of my favoritest books! I just loved it, the whole thing. Very subtle on the romance but it's just a really cool world, with great characters.

I sure hope you like it too :).

I have Soulless still to read.

I bought Soulless the other day too! Steampunk is all new to me - but I am intrigued. I think 'Soulless' is the perfect steampunk-introductory novel.

'Clockwork Heart' sounds so good, and the coverart is amazing!

Steampunk has really made it's mark this year in the world of books, hasn't it. I'm curious what you'll think of Clockwork Heart. Enjoy!

Danielle,

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Soulless - it sounds like such a fun and quirky read - I can't wait to get to it. :) I love the cover art on Clockwork Heart as well...I'm a sucker for a great cover. :)

Donna,

I had not even heard of steampunk until this year - now it's all over the place. I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl. :)

Definitely something different from the usual fare. Is this what they call "steampunk"? I'm not sure about "Soulless" but "Clockwork Heart" sounds like a good read.
