Review: Born of Night

This is a League Novel by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Book Blurb:

In the Ichidian Universe, the League rules all. Expertly trained and highly valued, the League Assassins are the backbone of the government. But not even the League is immune to corruption....

He was born and trained to kill...

Command Assassin Nykyrian Quiakides once turned his back on the League - and has been hunted by them ever since. Though many have tried, none can kill him or stop him from completing his current mission: to protect Kiara Zamir, a wman whose father's political alliance has made her a target.

She must accept his protection - or Die.....

As her world becomes even deadlier, Kiara must entrust her life to the same kind of beast who once killed her mother and left her for dead. Old enemies and new endanger them both and the only way they can survive is to overcome their suspicions and learn to trust in the very ones who threaten them the most: each other.

Born of Night is a pretty good read. :)

I love the character of Nykyrian - he is like Kenyons Dark Hunters and Were Hunters - beautiful and tortured - needing a woman to see through his tough exterior and find the goodness within.....I can deal with that. :)

But Kiara....gack! I do not like her character at all. People are trying to kill her. Nyk is trying to save her. He is an Assassin - what does she think he does for a living? How does she think he is going to stop the people from trying to kill her?

I just don't like the fact that she is surprised when Nyk kills or amazed at how he reacts with mistrust - especially when she gains insight into his past. I almost named her TSTL - but she has a few moments in there that redeem her....barely. :)

I give Born of Night 3 out of 5 stars. :)

I have the next two on the shelf and I'm looking forward to reading them.

I really enjoyed this one. But there were moments where the heroine really annoyed me.

Hey Michelle, you only give it a 3 stars. I'll have to rethink getting the book. I'll save my money for your 4s and 5s!

Hi Michelle!

Happy New Year. I bought this book on a whim when I was at the bookstore one day.

I like Kenyon's voice but this heroine sounds to be a bit of a PITA. lol

Oh well, it will be a while before I get to it anyway.
