Review: Poor Little Bitch Girl

This is a novel by Jackie Collins.

Book Blurb:

First there's Denver Jones, the hotshot attorney working in L.A. and Carolyn Henderson - personal assistant to a powerful and very married Senator in Washington with whom she is having an affair.

Then there's Annabelle Maestro - daughter of two movie stars - who has carved out a career for herself in New York as the madame of choice for discerning famous men. The three twenty-something women used to go to high school together in Beverly Hills and Denver and Carolyn have always kept in touch, but Annabelle is out on her own with her cocaine addicted boyfriend Frankie.

Bobby is Frankie's best friend - Bobby Santangelo Stanislopolous, that is, Kennedy-esque son of Lucky Santangelo and deceased Greek shipping billionaire Dimitri Stanislopolous. Now he owns Mood, the hottest club in New York, but back in the day he went to high school with Denver, Carolyn and Annabelle, and hung out with all three of them.

When Annabelle's beautiful movie-star mother is found shot to death in the bedroom of her Beverly Hills mansion, the five of them find themselves thrown together...and secrets from the past have a way of coming back to haunt everyone.

This book was submitted for review and I retain my copy.

Poor Little Bitch Girl is the first book I have read by Jackie Collins and I loved it. :)

Denver is an attorney who works for the firm that Annabelle's father contacts when his wife is murdered. She was friends with Annabelle when they were younger - so the firm feels like Denver has a connection with Annabelle. Good for the firm.

Annabelle left LA for New York and told no one who her parents are...she wanted to make a name for herself...and she did - with the help of her coke addict boyfriend Frankie.

Carolyn is having an affair with the married Senator that she works for - she is in way over her head - and too stupid to live in my opinion - but she doesn't deserve what happens to her.

Bobby has always had money and the perks that go with it - but he wanted to move out of the huge shadow cast by his parents and make his own way - and with the help of his long time friend and business partner, MJ - he has done just that.

Normally I don't care for books that move from one person to the next - but Poor Little Bitch Girl is the exception. First person POV is told by Denver. But each chapter centers around a different person - with the chapter name telling us who it's going to be about. Flipping back and forth between Denver, Annabelle, Carolyn, Bobby...I was hooked.

Ms. Collins kept the story moving forward - fast paced and fluid - from one person to the next with seamless precision.

I give Poor Little Bitch Girl 5 out of 5 stars and I am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Collins work.
