Branded by Fire is a Berkley Sensation Paranormal Romance and the 6th book in the Psy/Changelings series by Nalini Singh. This is the story of Mercy and Riley.

Mercy is a sentinel in the DarkRiver Leopard pack. She is accustomed to calling the shots, putting herself in danger and getting the job done. As a dominant changeling female this is standard behavior - and Mercy has no plans to change.

But she longs to have someone to call her own - a mate. But only if that mate is dominant - because Mercy can't see herself with a submissive male. The only problem with dominant male changelings is that they like to be in charge - just like dominant female changelings. So what's a girl to do?

Riley is a lieutenant in the SnowDancer wolf pack. He lost his parents at a very young age and gained the responsibility of raising his younger brother and sister. Riley has always been serious and in control - and when his sister was kidnapped and harmed - Riley never fully recovered from the guilt he felt at not being able to protect her. He wants - he needs to be able to protect his female, so Riley has decided that a submissive female is the best choice for his mate.

But we don't always get what we think is best for us - because Mercy does not have a submissive bone in her body - and Riley wants her with a fierce need he's never experienced before.

What happens when two dominant changelings dance the mating dance? Both find out that giving a little gains a whole lot more. :)
