Book Blogger Hop

Over at Crazy-for-Books they're having a Book Blogger Hop. Here is a description from the website:

It's Friday! Time for another Book Blogger Love Fest HOP!!

ABOUT THE HOP:
In the spirit of the Friday Follow, I thought it would be cool to do a Book Blogger Hop to give us all bookies a chance to connect and find new blogs that we may be missing out on! So, I created this weekly BOOK PARTY where book bloggers and readers can connect to find new blogs to read, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs that they may not know existed! So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start PARTYING!!

Sounds like a blast. Go and check it out - leave your link so others can stop by your blog - and don't forget to check out the blogs listed - you may find several you like. I did. :)

This week's question comes from:
Sarah @ SarahReadsTooMuch

Do you judge a book by its cover?

It is sad to say, but yes - I do. The book cover is what catches my eye in the first place. If I like the cover, I'll pick up the book - especially if it is a new to me author. Then if the back blurb sounds good - I'll get the book. But if the cover doesn't catch my eye - I won't even pick it up. I know I have missed out on some really good reads this way - and that is why I love my book blog. I read reviews about books that I have overlooked or authors that I am not familiar with and I can go back and revisit. And sometimes those books have new and updated covers. LOL

An example: I have read many great reviews about Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink. I did not even pick this book up because I thought the cover was kinda creepy. Now the second book is coming out and the cover is entirely different from the first one. The second cover is one that I would pick up in the store. LOL So now that I have read a review of the first book - I have added it to my list of must reads.

Have a wonder weekend.

Here from the Hop! Covers are an important part of marketing a book. I'm the same as you - a great cover will get me to give a book a closer look, whereas a poor cover just doesn't get my attention.

Me too. After all the cover is the only thing I have to judge if I don't know the book or author.

:) I'll admit I don't have a lot of the pastel dreary covered books on my shelf. If it has bold colors on the cover, I'll pick it up for a closer look. hope you enjoy your weekend!!

Hi Michelle, same exact things happens to me! I am so guilty of judging books by their covers, and sometimes titles.

and then I'll see some UK artwork or it's reprinted w/diffrent cover art, and I'm sold!

I'm an old follower just hopping through. I also judge books by their cover. You bring up a good point about relying on blog reviews to see if you've overlooked something good because of a bad cover.

Have an awesome weekend!
