Tracking the Tempest is the second book in the Jane True series by Nicole Peeler and an Orbit Fantasy.
Book Blurb:
Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and Ryu - Jane's bloodsucking boyfriend - can't let a major holiday go by without getting all gratuitous. An overwhelming dose of boyfriend interference and a last-minute ticket to Boston later, and Jane's life is thrown off course.
Ryu's well-intentioned plans create mayhem, and Jane winds up embroiled in an investigation involving a spree of gruesome killings. All the evidence points towards another Halfling, much to Jane's surprise...
Tracking the Tempest was a pretty good read.
Not long ago Jane True found out she is half selkie. Her long last mother was a selkie and when Jane could not follow her into the water - Jane's Mom left her with her father and not a backward glance.
Growing up human - with no idea of who she really was - Jane was flabbergasted, to say the least, when the truth was revealed.
Now armed with the knowledge of who she is - but still hiding the truth from her father and long time friends - Jane is trying to master here powers with the help of her new friends and her boyfriend, Ryu.
When a visit to Ryu puts everyone in danger, Jane must use what skills she has to help save the day - and she does - much to Ryu's surprise.
I don't really care for Ryu. He is a little patronizing towards Jane - and he doesn't seem to realize that she is only half selkie, her human side leaves her vulnerable.
I think I much prefer Anyan - and I'm hoping Jane will explore that relationship as the series progresses. :)
I give Tracking the Tempest 3 out of 5 stars.

I always love the cover of the first one when I see it - looks like fun.
This one was a good read for me, but book 1 is still my favorite. :)
