Happy Hour at Casa Dracula is the first book in the Casa Dracula series by Marta Acosta and a novel of Fiction from Pocket Star Books.
Book Blurb:
Latina Ivy League grad Milagro de Los Santos can't find her place in the world or a man to go with it. Then one night, at a book party for her pretentious ex-boyfriend, she meets an oddly attractive man.
After she is bitten while kissing him, she falls ill and is squirreled away to his family's estate to recover. Vampires don't exist in this day and age -- or do they?
As Milagro falls for a fabulously inappropriate man, she finds herself caught between a family who has accepted her as one of their own and a shady organization that refuses to let the undead live and love in peace.
Happy Hour at Casa Dracula is a fun, quirky read - I devoured in one day. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of this series. :)
Milagro De Los Santos, Mil to her friends, has everything a girl needs to make her way in life. She has a degree from a very prestigious school, and well, a degree from a very prestigious school. :)
Mil is an aspiring writer with an arsenal of words and a plethora of snark at her disposal. That and a couple of odd jobs provide her with a basement apartment and all the ramen noodle she could want.
When one of her odd jobs finds her in the company of her ex-boyfriend, Mil can't help but feel resentment at how his life compares to hers.
All she wants is someone to call her own. Someone who shares her interests and lights her fire.
Then she meets someone who just might fit the bill - only things don't go exactly as they should and Mil finds herself caught up in a situation only a writer could dream up.
I give Happy Hour at Casa Dracula 4 out of 5 stars. :)

*Just so you know, I happen to think that Marta Acosta is not only a great writer - but a really nice person. :)

Hi Michelle!
I LOVE the Casa Dracula series, some of my favorite reads! I would love to meet Milagro in person, lol, she'd be fun to run around the mall with, talk about FU experiences....
Marta is so funny, I love her snark!
Dottie :)
I recently read this one, and when I finished I thought "why the heck haven't I read Marta Acosta sooner!?!"

Hi, everyone! Michelle, it always cheers me up to see a nice review of my book. I don't feel like such a crazy person sitting by myself at my laptop and muttering. (I don't actually mutter...my diction is crystal clear as I'm cursing!)
Hope you will enjoy the rest of the series. Just ask if you'd like review copies. Everyone says that each is better than the last. Then they laugh a lot, but I'm sure they're laughing with me, not at me. Well, pretty sure.
