Review: The Immortals by J T Ellison

The Immortals is the fifth book in the Taylor Jackson series by J T Ellison and a novel of Suspense from Mira Books.

Taylor Jackson has just been reinstated as a lieutenant in the homicide division, her team back together and ready to go when they receive a call; the body of a young man has been found - his corpse mutilated.

Taylor, her fiance John Baldwin as well as her team of detectives arrive at the scene only to be called away to another, and then another - a total of eight bodies have been found, dead and mutilated.

As quickly as they responded to the calls - they can't seem to catch a break.  How could one person commit all of these crimes simultaneously?  There has to be more than one perpetrator.  With the clock ticking and the parents wanting to know if their children are safe in their own homes - Taylor and her team do everything in their power to find the killers - even using the advice of a self professed Wiccan.

I did enjoy The Immortals - this story was fast paced and so very interesting - even a little creepy.  :)  But I did not like the side story.  John Baldwin was called to Quantico, Virginia for a hearing on a case from 2004 - and every now and again we would flash back to 2004 for bits and pieces of what happened with that case.

I felt that this side story was very distracting to what was going on in Nashville with Taylor.  Just as the Nashville story would get going good - we'd have a flash back.  It was annoying.  I would have enjoyed the book better without the side story.

I give The Immortals 3 out of 5 stars.
