Review: Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks

Tempting Danger is the first book in the World of the Lupi series by Eileen Wilks and a Romantic Suspense from Berkley Sensation.

Book Blurb:

Lily Yu is a San Diego police detective investigating a series of grisly murders that appear to be the work of a werewolf.  To hunt down the killer, she must infiltrate the clans.

Only one man can help her - a werewolf named Rule Turner, a prince of the lupi, whose charismatic presence disturbs Lily.

Rule has his own reason for helping the investigation - reasons he doesn't want to share with Lily.  Logic and honor demand she keep her distance, but the attraction between them is immediate and devastating - and beyond human reason.

Now in a race to fend off evil, Lily finds herself in uncharted territory, tested as never before, and, at her back, a man she's not sure she can trust...

I've said it before - Romantic Suspense is fast becoming one of my favorite genre's - and Tempting Danger is another reason why.  :)

Lily Yu has gone against her mother's wishes and become a police detective.  She wants nothing more than to put her past behind her and she feels that putting the bad guys behind bars is the best way to do that.

When she is called in to investigate a murder that appears to have been committed by a lupus, Lily sets out to gather information from the local were bar.  It is there that she meets Rule Turner and her life is turned upside down.

Rule is his father's heir.  It is his job to maintain a certain public appearance, an appearance that projects trust and acceptance.  Which is a hard thing to do when were's can be shot on sight when in their four legged form.

Lily begins to think there is a conspiracy going on - a conspiracy that involves a person or persons inside the police department.

With no alternative Lily agrees to work with the FBI and Rule to bring down the perpetrator - but none of them are prepared for who or what that perpetrator is.

With the help of her Grandmother (who is awesome) Lily and crew throw together a plan that just might nab the bad guys, without getting everyone killed in the process.

Tempting Danger was a very enjoyable read.  I like both Lily and Rule - and as I said before - Grandmother is awesome.  I can't wait to read more in the series.

I give Tempting danger 4 out of 5 stars.  :)

Hi Michelle,

Great review and I'm glad you enjoyed this one as much as I did!

This is an awesome series (Rule and Lily steam up the room)!

I loved the first two books of the series, but the rest couldn't hold my interest. For me it had an Urban Fantasy feel. Especially in the later books.

I love this series... but the books did start to go pear-shaped for me around #3. I don't want to spoil anything for you, but be prepared.
On the bright side, Wilks's 2011 release sounds AMAZING, and it seems like the series is going to pick up again :)

I haven't read much Romantic Suspense but I think perhaps I should give it a try.
