Review: Alpha by Rachel Vincent

Alpha is the sixth and final book in the Werecat series by Rachel Vincent and a Paranormal Novel from Mira.

Book Blurb:

You've Got To Have Faythe...

The unscrupulous new Council chair has charged Jace, Marc and me with trespassing, kidnapping, murder and treason.  Yeah, we've been busy.  But now it's time to take justice into our own hands.  we must avenge my brother's death and carve out the rot at the heart of the Council.

It's not going to be easy, and loss seems unavoidable, but I have promised to protect my Pride, no matter what.  With a target on my back and Marc at my side, I'm heading for a final showdown that can - that will- change everything forever.

A showdown I'm not sure I'm ready for.

But life never waits until you're ready.

Alpha is a great ending to a wonderful series and I am going to miss Faythe and her Pride.

This is one of those books that can't be reviewed without giving away spoilers - and I hate spoilers, so I am just going to give a quick opinion.  :)

Faythe has had to adjust to life in the Pride very quickly.  At first she wanted to leave - have a normal life - and her father indulged her, letting her go away to college and just be Faythe.

Until Werecat business got in the way and Faythe realized that Pride life is normal - for her.  Finally embracing her nature and the Pride, Faythe moves from one political maneuver to another.

See Faythe is not a typical Tabby - she is an enforcer for her father, and not all Alpha's and toms think that is right.  Tabby's are very few and so they are precious to the Pride - but they are also treated, by some, as second class citizens - there for the sole purpose of having babies.

Faythe disagrees and has, so far, decided not to marry and become a baby machine.  This attitude has garnered her several enemies - and one in particular, Calvin Malone.

Calvin wants to expand his territory and in order to do that he needs more tabby's.  It is the Tabby who has the land - but the Alpha she marries has to control it and the members of his Pride.  Calvin wants the Saunders land and Pride and sees marrying his son to Faythe as the easiest and quickest way to reach his goal.

Faythe would rather die - and if she does - she's taking as many of Calvin's pride with her as she can.

I loved Alpha.  Ms Vincent wrapped things up nicely.  I will admit, I did see some of the events coming - but others I was completely surprised about.  :)

I give Alpha 5 out of 5 stars.

I loved this series! Alpha was a bittersweet ending for me. I liked how it ended but I was sad that it's over. I'm moving on to her Soul Screamers series. Nice summary while avoiding spoilers.
