Review: Wages of Sin by Jenna Maclaine.

Wages of Sin is the first book in the Cin Craven series by Jenna Maclaine and a novel from St. Martin's Paperbacks.

Book Blurb:

She is a warrior of extraordinary power - the ultimate creature of the night.  Her story is one that spans the ages, from historical England to modern-day America and beyond.  Welcome to eternity...welcome to the night.

Dulcinea Craven descends from a long line of witches, and she has just inherited wild, untrained magical powers that she has no idea how to control.  Now a ruthless vampire and an age-old demon are determined to enslave Cin and steal her power for their own.

Her only hope is the Righteous, a band of warrior vampires who slay the rogue undead.  Among them is Michael, a fierce swordsman who inflames Cin's most primal hungers.

Showing her sensual pleasure beyond anything in the mortal realm, she must choose between the human existence she has always known, and immortality as a vampire - a new life filled with forbidden urges, dark yearning, and unearthly passions...

Wages of Sin was a pretty good read.  :)  I have not read a historical novel in some time - I find the time period too restraining - but this book, with its paranormal elements really caught my interest and I found it quite enjoyable.

First of all - the name Cin Craven rox - no doubt about it.  :)

Dulcinea Craven has grown up surrounded by magic - all of the women in her family are witches - she is no exception.  However, they do not gain their powers until adulthood - and Dulcie, in her early 20's has not gained hers yet.

When a series of unplanned events sees Dulcie gain her powers, with no way to control them - and threatened by an unbelievable foe - Dulcie does the only thing she can think of and summons help from an unlikely source.

Dulcinea had no idea just how much her life would change by that one, simple act.

I can't wait for the book that finds Cin in modern day America - I really think she is going to become a person to be reckoned with.  :)

I give Wages of Sin 4 out of 5 stars and I have the next 2 installments on the tbr shelf.  :)
