The Queen of Last Hopes is a Historical Novel by Susan Higginbotham from SourceBooks Casablanca.
Book Blurb:
It would be called the Wars of the Roses, but it all began with one woman's fury...
Margaret of Anjou, Queen of England, cannot give up on her husband-even when he goes insane.
And as mother to the House of Lancaster's last hope, she cannot give up on her son-even when all England turns against him.
This gripping tale of a queen is at its heart a tender tale of love: passionate, for her husband, and motherly, for her only son.
The Queen of Last Hopes was submitted for review.
My thoughts:
Margaret of Anjou, the fourteen year old niece of Charles VII, King of France - is married, by proxy - to Henry VI, King of England in the hope that the marriage will bring peace to the two nations.
Margaret grew to love Henry - and Henry loved her - and for twenty-six years Margaret was the Queen of England.
What transpired in those twenty-six years was political intrigue, war, births and deaths, love, madness, betrayal, hope and despair and The Queen of Last Hopes tells this story in rich detail.
Susan Higginbotham is a wonderful story teller and The Queen of Last Hopes is a must read for all those who love a great historical novel.
I give The Queen of Last Hopes 5 out of 5 stars.
