Review: Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost

Eternal Kiss of Darkness is the second book in the Night Huntress World series by Jeaniene Frost and an Avon Fiction.

Book Blurb:

An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness...and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.

Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.

At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears - this fearless, beautiful....human who braved death to rescue him. Though her burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.

But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.

My thoughts:

Eternal Kiss of Darkness gives us more background info on Mencheres - which I love.

Kira Graceling is a PI trying to make ends meet while taking care of her sister - who has a debilitating disease.

When Kira stumbles across the unimaginable - she is immediately whisked away to an unknown location and has no idea what will happen to her - but she keeps her wits about her, relies on her training - and plans an escape.

Mencheres has come to a cross roads in his four thousand years of undeath - and he is not quite sure which path to take.

Having made Bones his co-ruler, Mencheres feels that he may not be needed by his people as much as he once was - and he grows tired of the politics and intrigue of vampire life.

Add to that an old enemy has come calling once again - and he has designs on Mencheres and his power - a power that he wants for himself - a power that Mencheres has no plans to let him have.

But this old enemy is willing to use anything to get to Mencheres - and right now, Kira has become his prime target.

I did enjoy Eternal Kiss of Darkness - but I was looking for a little more action.

Mencheres has so much power - and though I admire his restraint, I wanted him to let go and open up a can of whoop a$$.  Instead he let Kira do the talking for him on several occasions and I was disappointed.

I am looking forward to Vlad's book.  I am really excited about his story.  :)

I give Eternal Kiss of Darkness 3 out of 5 stars.

A little more action is always good, but good that you liked it anyway
