Review: Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione

Eternal Rider is the first book in the Lords of Deliverance series by Larissa Ione and a Paranormal Romance from Grand Central Publishing.

Book Blurb:

They are here.
They ride.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Born of a match between good and evil, four siblings stand between hell’s minions and everything they want to destroy.  They are the Lords of Deliverance, and they have the power to ward off Doomsday...or let it ride...

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't-or won't-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

My thoughts:

He is Ares - for now.  But if - when, his Seal breaks he becomes War - the second Horseman of the Apocalypse.  He and his three siblings were cursed as punishment for their actions - actions that caused the deaths of thousands of innocent people.

Part of their curse is the Seal.  The Seal cannot be broken - but each Horsemen has an agimortus - or trigger.  Ares trigger is now in the hands of a human.

Cara Thornhart has an affinity for animals - she always has - but not everyone sees her gift as a good thing.  Some think it’s evil, so Cara has learned to hide her gift.  And then she meets Ares.

Being one of the Horsemen, Ares sees Cara as nothing more than a weak human.  Her refusal to use her gift just proves his point.  Ares thinks that every advantage should be used in battle - and this is definitely a battle.

One he thinks Cara won’t survive.

Eternal Rider is a great start to this new series and I can’t wait to read more.  Ms. Ione has built upon the world she created in the Demonica series and added more vibrant and colorful characters to an already rich landscape.

I love it. :)

I give Eternal Rider 5 out of 5 stars.

B,

I am right there with you. It was so sad that the actor who played that role died.

P&RSR,

Thank you. :) This is going to be just as great as the Demonica series. Ms. Ione is one of my favorite writers.
