Review: The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter

The Darkest Secret is the seventh book in the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showatler and a Paranormal Romance from HQN.

Book Blurb:

Keeper of the demon of Secrets, Amun can manipulate the darkest thoughts of anyone nearby. But when the immortal warrior is chained and isolated to protect those he loves, death is his only hope of release - until he meets Haidee, a fellow prisoner whose beauty and hidden vulnerability draw him into a reckless test of his loyalty..

Haidee is a demon-assassin, raised to despise Amun's kind. Yet how can she hate the man whose touch sets her aflame? But to save him, she must give herself body and soul - and face the wrath of a powerful adversary sworn to destroy her.

My thoughts:

Amun houses the demon of Secrets.  Every secret he has ever heard - whether spoken or thought - is trapped inside his mind.  Amun does not speak - choosing to communicate with sign language rather than risk opening his mouth and unleashing secrets on his friends.

Haidee has spent her numerous lives hating and hunting the demons she holds responsible for the deaths of her loved ones.  As a Hunter, Haidee has joined those like herself in the fight to end the Lords forever.

Now Haidee, a Hunter, and Amun, a Lord - must work together to reach a common goal, vanquish old enemies and change preconceived opinions.

I absolutely love this series!    Gena Showalter is simply an amazing story teller. :)

I give The Darkest Secret 5 out of 5 stars and can’t wait for the next installment - The Darkest Surrender - Strider and Kaia’s story - 09-27-11.

I wasn't excited about Strider, until this book. We really get to see his personality more here than we ever have before. I can't wait!
