My thoughts:
Raylene Pendle is paranoid vampire - but her paranoia has kept alive (or undead) since 1924. She has safe houses scattered around the world and never stays in one place overly long.
A loner, Raylene does not belong to a vampire House and she does not rely on pet humans or ‘ghouls’, she prefers to keep things simple.
Oh, and she is a thief - wanted by more than one government. Raylene is known only as Cheshire Red - and she is very good at what she does. If you want something retrieved (stolen) she is the one you call.
Her latest assignment is more complicated than she first believed. A fellow vampire was captured and used in a government experiment that left him blind. He is hoping that if he can get his hands on those experiment documents, he might be able to regain his sight.
Raylene agrees to take the case - but her initial inquiries raise red flags all over the place and now she has the government on her trail....a place she’d rather they not stay.
BloodShot is the first book I’ve read by Cherie Priest and I really enjoyed it. Raylene is snarky and comes across as uncaring - but she’s really a softie at heart, well a softie with fangs and superhuman strength, a bad attitude and a thirst for blood.
I like her.
I give BloodShot 4 out of 5 stars and I’m looking forward to HellBent due out 9-6-11.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hellbent was just as good, with a lot of snark and Sister Rose/Adrian appearances. The only problem with these books is that the ending is always inconclusive.

I saw this one of NetGalley I think it was (?) a while back and wasn't sure what to expect. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it! Maybe I'll check it out!
