Review: Enemy Lover by Karin Harlow

Enemy Lover is the first book in the L.O.S.T series by Karin Harlow and a Paranormal Romance from Pocket Star Books.

Book Blurb:

When you have no alternative, then you call in L.O.S.T. Because with the Last Option Special Team, it's do or die. . . .

It's Jax Cassidy's first mission for L.O.S.T. - one that will give the former cop who went rogue a chance to prove herself. Her assignment: gain the trust of assassin Marcus Cross . . . eliminate him . . . then take down Marcus's mentor, Joseph Lazarus, a man with a bold eye on the White House. But the woman who's known by her team for being a femme fatale succumbs to passion, only to discover Cross's deadly secret. He's a vampire, and Joseph Lazarus is his creator.

Left for dead by his platoon in the violent hills of Afghanistan, Special Ops sniper Marcus Cross was given a second chance at life. His newly heightened skills make him the perfect killing machine, and as Lazarus's right-hand man, he's quickly rising to the top of his dark empire, purging enemies with speed and precision. Only when dangerous beauty Jax Cassidy is sent to bring him in does he begin to question Lazarus's motives and his own actions. But when Jax's life is threatened by the one thing that can destroy them both, Marcus must make a bitter choice - her death or his.

My thoughts:

Jax Cassidy did not exist before L.O.S.T, reeling from a brutal attack and the betrayal of those she trusted most - Angela Giacomelli was given a choice.  Join L.O.S.T or spend the rest of her life in regret.

Choosing to put the past behind her, Angela is reborn Jax.  With the proper training she becomes a valuable member of L.O.S.T and is ready for her first assignment.

Marcus Cross.

Marcus Cross, a patriot and Special Ops sniper in Afghanistan, returned to the states a changed man.  Literally.

Left for dead as a casualty of war, Marcus was found by Lazarus and given the choice of dying or becoming vampire.  Marcus chose vampire.

Now Marcus and Lazarus are determined to eradicate every terrorist cell that threatens the US.  And though Marcus is sincere in his mission - his trust is misplaced.

Lazarus is not who he appears to be - and his mission is far more self serving than Marcus could possibly know.

L.O.S.T wants to stop Lazarus and the plan is to get closer to him by getting close to Marcus.  A sound plan - until Jax gets a little too close.

Enemy Lover is an okay read.

It reads like a Romantic Suspense/Political Thriller  that’s had a couple of vampires thrown in for good measure.

I give Enemy Lover 2 out of 5 stars.
