Review: Embrace the Highland Warrior by Anita Clenney

Embrace the Highland Warrior is the second book in the Highland Warrior series by Anita Clenney and a Romance from SourceBooks Casablanca.

Book Blurb:

They were driven apart by a timeless secret...

Cody MacBain let the woman of his destiny slip away.  A member of an ancient clan of Scottish warriors, he grew up beside Shay Logan as her secret protector, but his heart compelled him to become more.  Until Shay’s true identity was revealed, and the fated pair’s chance was gone...

But danger will drive them back into each other’s arms...

Shay fell for the boy next door, suspecting nothing of the ancient secrets he guarded.  After what appeared to be a stinging betrayal, she’s tried to banish the memories of her first love. However, the machinations of the sinister demon that left her for dead will force her to confront her past head on.

Now she must learn to embrace her warrior nature, and the warrior who has always watched over her, in order to turn back a tide of unspeakable evil...

My thoughts:

Shay Logan was raised by her Aunt after the death of her parents.  She lived next door to the MacBains and their boys - who treated Shay like a member of the family - always watching over her, protecting her.

She had a pretty good life.  Until the age of eighteen - and she found out it was all lies.

As a baby, Shay was marked by a demon.  In an attempt to keep her alive, she was whisked away from her home and placed in another, her name changed and Warrior’s set to guard her.

All without her knowledge.

Years passed and it was thought that Shay was safe.  But now the demon is back - and he will stop at nothing to finish what he started all those years ago.

Cody MacBain comes from a long line of Warrior’s.  He has always known that he would one day become a Warrior himself.  But that part of his life is secret - and must be kept secret - even from the one he loves.

Cody is determined to protect Shay and knows that in order to regain her trust he must be honest with her about his role as a Warrior. Shay realizes that to put the past behind her and move forward, she has to open up to Cody.

With demons and vampires out to get her, Shay has to embrace her destiny - and trust her mate.

Embrace the Highland Warrior is the first book I have read by Anita Clenney and I really liked it. Though the second book in the series, I had no trouble reading it - but I do want to read the first in the series, Awaken the Highland Warrior.

I give Embrace the Highland Warrior 4 out of 5 stars.
