Review: Hot Zone by Catherine Mann

Hot Zone is the second book in the Elite Force series by Catherine Mann and a Romance from SourceBooks Casablanca.

Book Blurb:

Days Full of Danger...

For Pararescueman Master Sergeant Hugh Franco, it’s all about saving other people’s lives.  Then he moves on.  But when he pulls beautiful Amelia Bailey and her adopted nephew from the rubble of a catastrophic earthquake, he finds himself entangled in their lives in ways he could never have imagined...

And Desire-Filled Nights...

Amelia’s trip to the Bahamas to help with an international adoption has been no vacation, but the hardest part is yet to come.  As Amelia and Hugh are pulled unawares into a deadly smuggling scheme, simmering beneath their growing need to protect each other is a compelling attraction they’re both determined to deny...

My thoughts:

Master Sergeant Hugh Franco is always the first man to volunteer for the dangerous missions.  He thinks nothing of risking his life to save others - since the death of his wife and daughter in a plane crash - he has nothing else to lose.

When an earthquake sends Hugh and his crew to search for survivors in the Bahamas - it’s SOP for Hugh to hit the ground running.

What he finds is Amelia Bailey trapped beneath a ton of rubble - and even under such dire circumstances, she keeps her head together - earning Hugh’s respect.

Once rescued, Hugh is unwilling to walk away.  Amelia has awakened something inside him that Hugh thought was long dead.

But before the two can do anything more than acknowledge their mutual attraction, they are caught up in a horrible smuggling operation.

Hot Zone is the second book I have read in the Elite Force series and I enjoyed it.

I give Hot Zone 3 out of 5 stars.
