Review: Raven Cursed by Faith Hunter
Raven Cursed is the fourth book in the Jane Yellowrock series from Faith Hunter and a ROC Fantasy.
Book Blurb:
Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker and a vampire killer for hire. But lately instead of just slaying vampires, she’s been working for them...
The vampires of Asheville, North Carolina, want to establish their own clan, but since they owe loyalty to Leo Pellissier, vampire Master of the City of New Orleans - and Jane’s boss - they must work out the terms with him. To come up with an equitable solution, Leo sends an envoy with the best bodyguard blood money can buy: Jane.
But when a group of local campers is attacked by something supernatural, Jane goes from escort to investigator. It’s up to her to keep peace in the region, and unless she wants to face a very angry vampire Master, Jane will have to work overtime to find the killer. It’s a good thing she’s worth every penny...
My thoughts:
Leo is in New Orleans working on negotiations with the Witch Council hoping to make reparations for years of abductions and murder of young witches. When the vampires of Asheville, NC, ask for an audience, Leo sends Gregoire in his place - and sends Jane along as head of security.
Everything is going according to schedule until a couple of campers turn up dead - and Jane realizes the deaths are the work of were’s. Were’s that have followed Jane to NC - were’s who are looking for revenge.
Now Jane has to find these were’s and stop them before they infect humans with the were-taint.
That is easier said than done.
Jane is shocked to discover that the Coven leader of the local witch coven is somehow involved. To make matters worse, the coven leader is the sister of Jane’s best friend, Molly.
Now Jane has to juggle vamp politics, rogue were’s, black magic witches and the local PD...
I completely enjoy the Jane Yellowrock series. I love the internal dialogue between Jane and Beast - and let’s face it, Jane is one kick a$$ woman.
I give Raven Cursed 4 out of 5 stars.
