My thoughts:
Kerry Smithson has a reputation for being cold and stand offish - she’s not, really - but she can’t stand to be touched. It hurts. Physically hurts.
Even as a small child, when hugged, Kerry would scream with pain and suffer terrible images flashing in her mind. Eventually her adoptive parents stopped trying to hug her and now their relationship is strained to say the least.
What Kerry doesn’t know is that she is a hybrid - half human and half Amoveo. Those flashes she gets when touched is a gift that comes with her hybrid DNA - once she learns to control this gift it will be a huge asset.
Dante is an Amoveo - a fox shifter - and he knew the moment he saw Kerry that she was his mate. But Kerry knows nothing about the Amoveo or her heritage - even though her best friend, Samantha, is herself a hybrid and set to marry her Amoveo mate.
Dante is determined to claim Kerry as his own - but he knows that she needs time. He vows to guard her, keep her safe, until the time is right to tell her about the Amoveo.
Unfortunately, there is a faction of Purist who despise the hybrids and when it comes to light that Kerry is a hybrid - is in fact, Dante’s mate - Kerry’s life is forfeit...and it may take more than Dante’s considerable talents to keep Kerry alive...
Untouched is an enjoyable read. I am fascinated with this world Ms. Humphreys has created and I can’t wait for more.
