Review: Grave Memory by Kalayna Price

Grave Memory is the third book in the Alex Craft series by Kalayna Price and a ROC Fantasy.

Blurb:

As a grave witch, Alex solves murders by raising the dead - and ability that comes at a cost.  After her last few cases, that cost is rising.  But her magic isn’t the only thing causing havoc in her life.  While she’s always been on friendly terms with Death himself, things have recently become a whole lot more up close and personal.

But the personal takes a backseat to the professional when a suicide occurs in Nekros City and Alex is hired to investigate.  The shade has no memory of the days leading up to his brutal ending, so despite the very public apparent suicide, this is murder.

My thoughts:

Alex Craft is part fae - and keeping it from her closest friends.  As a grave witch, she is able to see ghosts, raise shades and cross over into the land of the dead.  An ability that comes in handy when investigating a murder.

But the latest case that Alex is working on is very different.  The shade of the deceased has no memory of his death - in fact has no memory of the days leading up to his death - and that has Alex more than a little worried.

Worry turns to outright fear when one of Alex’s dearest friends begins showing signs of the same ‘ailment’ the murdered man experienced before his death.  With time running out Alex has to make some hard choices - and those choices may change her forever...

Grave Memory is a great addition to a series that is fast becoming one of my favorites.  Alex is tough and not afraid to make the hard decisions when it comes to those she holds dear - even if it means a  loss to herself.

I give Grave Memory 4 out of 5 stars.

Ok, I definitely need to catch up! I still have to read book 2, so I better get to it, as this one looks very promising indeed! :)
