Last week I tried a couple of new to me authors. All of these books I downloaded using Kindle Unlimited.

Show me an amateur conjurer, and I’ll stop him before he
gets himself killed.
That’s the idea, anyway. But New York City isn’t what it used
to be, and I don’t mean the recent crash.
Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn’t be
able to. And there’s been a murder at the city’s most hallowed cathedral, a
message in blood on the victim’s back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like
yesterday.
Something tells me I’m in over my head. And that’s not just
Chinatown’s newest mob boss, a scary-powerful vampire, or my possessed cat
talking.
No matter how much magic I hurl, worse keeps chasing bad,
and I’m amassing enemies like they’re aluminum cans.
Did I mention the end of the world might be nigh?

creature she can get her hands on; the same monsters her brethren

With the stakes raised insurmountably, she finds herself
bound by desperation to create the very darkness she always fought against
being consumed by, going against everything she has ever believed in.

Bo Blackman is a rookie private investigator working for the
London based firm of Dire Straits.
She doesn't often get triber-based assignments, which is
just as well. Vampires and daemons don't interest her as much as humans do.
However, when she has to serve a summons on a dodgy daemon called Devlin O'Shea
and she ends up saving his life instead of being framed for his murder, her
life takes a shocking turn for the worse.
And when the vampire Families start involving themselves
too, Bo no longer knows where to turn...
