Slave: The Cat Star Chronicles

This is the 1st in the Cat Star Chronicles by Cheryl Brooks and the story of Cat and Jack.

Book Blurb:

"I found him in the slave market on Orpheseus Prime, and even on such a god-forsaken planet as that one, their treatment of him seemed extreme."

He may be the last of a species whose sexual talents were the envy of the galaxy.

Cat is an enslaved warrior from a race with a feline gene that gives him awesome beauty, fearsome strength, and sensuality and sexual prowess unmatched by any other males in the universe. Even filthy, chained, and beaten, he gives off an aura of power and virility and his feline gene gives him a special aura.

Jacinth is an intergalactic trader on a rescue mission and she needs a man she can trust with her life.

She has spent years pursuing her kidnapped sister from planet to planet. Now her quest leads her to a place where all the women are slaves. "Jack" needs a slave of her own-one who can masquerade as her master.

Enmeshed in a tangle of deception, lust, and love, they must elude a race of violent killers and together forge a bond stronger than any chains.

I really don't know what to say about this book.

In the beginning I thought it was going to be somewhat serious - the main character is searching for her enslaved sister - going from planet to planet- but always one step behind the slavers.

Then the book takes a turn - I'm not sure if it was supposed to be erotic - but it came across as hilarious. I laughed til tears rolled down my face.

Jack is a no nonsense kinda gal: independent and self reliant - determined to find her sister.

Cat, as far as he knows, is the last of his kind. Beautiful, sexually talented and the envy of other planets.

I could get behind that okay - but instead of being sensual and erotic - it came across funny and at times downright silly.

I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Hey Michelle:

Thanks for posting your thoughts. I've read mixed reviews about this series all over the web and am intrigued!

I have Rogue here to read, and am waiting on Slave & Warrior, because I'm pretty methodical about reading series books in order. So, I'll have to see whether Ms. Brooks series is my cuppa!

Best Regards

Lea,

I am the same way - I will not read out of order. LOL

I think the problem I had was trying to decide which genre the book fit into - and after giving it more thought, I think it needs it's own genre. :)

Maybe futuristic, sexy comedy. :)

Hey Michelle! Great review! Yeah, I had a feelin' that after reading MsM. reviews, which had me dying of laughter, that these books may be silly but I still had to get them for the wonder penis. I'm so intrigued!!

VFG,

It may very well be a wonder penis - but I don't know how I'd feel if it were heading my way. LOL

Hi Michelle!

I've read about this series, some like and some don't. I'm definitely needing to look at it now. It seems like something I would like...I've checked the Cherly Brooks site and I think I'm going to give it a try. Now to find the first book, sounds like this needs to be read in order.

Thanks for the review!
