Review : Demon Angel

This is the second book - but the first full length story - in the Guardians series by Meljean Brook and the story of Lilith and Hugh.

Book Blurb:

DEMON ANGEL

For two thousand years, Lilith wrought vengeance upon the evil and the damned, gathering souls for her father’s armies Below and proving her fealty to her Underworld liege. Bound by a bargain with the devil and forbidden to feel pleasure, she draws upon her dark powers and serpentine grace to lead men into temptation. That is, until she faces her greatest temptation—Heaven’s own Sir Hugh Castleford…

Once a knight and now a Guardian, Hugh spent centuries battling demons—and the cursed, blood-drinking nosferatu. His purpose has always been to thwart the demon Lilith, even as he battles his treacherous hunger for her. But when a deadly alliance unleashes a threat to both humans and Guardians in modern-day San Francisco, angel and demon must fight together against unholy evil—and against a desire that has been too long denied…

Who will be the first to succumb?

I have to say that this book was unlike any I've read before.

The beginning of the book was set in the 1200's. The last of the book was set in 2007.

I really enjoyed the fact that both Lilith and Hugh were immortal - both of them strong, powerful and fierce. One for the greater good and the other - well, not so much. LOL

Even though Lilith is a demon, I couldn't help liking her. She was stuck in a no win situation and trying to make the best of it.

Hugh was starting to get on my nerves a little cause he was just too good for words - but then he did something that I was not expecting and I was shocked. :) I like it when things happen that aren't expected - keeps me on my toes.

This book was sad. I mean parts were really sad. But the end was worth it and I'm really glad I read it. :)

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars and hope to find the rest in the series soon. :)

Hi Michelle:

VFG loves this series too. I haven't read any of the stories yet but may pick up "Demon Angel". I understand that it is critical to read the series in order or you get lost.

::sigh:: Maybe when I wheedle down the TBR a 'tad'. lol

Thanks for sharing..

I like your thoughts on this. And yes, this book really is unique, isn't it? I remember when I first started it, I didn't know what to make of it, but now the series is a fave. It just gets better, too!

I love, LOVE this series!!!

I'm a serious fan girl of Meljean Brook and while I loved 'Demon Angel', 'Demon Moon' stands be my absolute fave. I've never loved a conceited vampire more. ;)

I'm currently dying for 'Demon Forged' too.

Great Review!!

Anna,

I did enjoy it - thank you for the suggestion. :)

Cecile,

I have a notebook on my desk as well....it is getting full very quickly. :) I did have a great Sunday. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Doug,

I hope I can get the rest in the series soon. :)

B,

I got mine from paperbackswap. :) That is a wonderful way to try new authors.

Lea,

I have to read in order..it is just a pet peeve with me. :) But this time I didn't read the short story in that anthology - it worked out okay. LOL

Carolyn,

I'm glad to know that you like the rest of the series. And yes, this was a very unique book - I loved that it spanned so many years. :)

Leontine,

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. At first I wondered if I would like this book - I'm not much into historicals - but I'm really glad I gave it a shot. :) And I wouldn't put it in the historical genre - it is a paranormal romance.

VFG,

I have the rest of the series on my wish list and can't wait to get my hands on them. I'm glad to know both you and Carolyn are fans of all the books. :)
