Look what I found at Wal-Mart!!
Hubby and I were out and about yesterday and of course found ourselves at Wal-Mart - so after meandering around for a bit looking at this and that we wound up in the book section. *smile*
I squealed like a little girl and did the happy dance right there in the aisle. Hubby, of course, is used to this reaction when I am around books - so he was not fazed one bit. LOL I can't wait to read this book.
Book Blurb:
Jamie Fraser, erstwhile Jacobite and reluctant rebel, knows three things about the American rebellion: the Americans will win, unlikely as that seems in 1778; being on the winning side is no guarantee of survival; and he'd rather die than face his illegitimate son - a young lieutenant in the British Army - across the barrel of a gun. Fraser's time-travelling wife, Claire, also knows a couple of things: that the Americans will win, but that the ultimate price of victory is a mystery. What she does believe is that the price won't include Jamie's life or happiness - not if she has anything to say.
Claire's grown daughter Brianna, and her husband, Roger, watch the unfolding of Brianna's parents' history - a past that may be sneaking up behind their own family.

Michelle I am really curious to know what is the average price for books in the US? is wal-mart cheaper? what about the book stores like B&N or borders?
I really must read book 1 :)
The happy dance is the best
You're so lucky !!!
Ooh that is a find, especially at Walmart. I still need to read Outlander.
I have to read this series! :)
That's awesome! I'm still waiting for mine - I pre-ordered it with a book that doesn't come out until next week amd they're sending them out together :(
BUT, I found Covet at Winn Dixie yesterday (and danced in the aisle too!) so I've got that to red while I wait!!
Tynga,
Most book stores have mass market paperbacks for $6.99 or $7.99. Every now and again they will have a special issue for $4.99.
The larger, Trade paperback is usually $14.99 and hardbacks can be anywhere from $20 - $27.
Wal-Mart has the mass market paperbacks for $4.97 - $5.97 and trade paperbacks (mostly the YA books) anywhere from $7.97 - $12.97. They also have the hardbacks for $16-97 - $22.97.
I paid $20.97 for my hardback copy of An Echo in the Bone.
So usually I can save anywhere from $2 - $5 per book - and as many books as I buy - those few dollars add up in the long run. :)
Now most books stores have a marked down section and when I go to Books A Million and Barnes & Noble I head there first. :) Sometimes I can get books at almost half price when I so that. I think they have a clearance section on the website as well - but I have only ordered off line once - so I'm not as familiar with on line ordering. :)
Hope that helps some. :)

B,
Yes, you must start with Outlander. Oh, I really think you would love this series. :) And the happy dance is the best. LOL
Emmanuelle,
I am in the middle of reading Frostbite by Richelle Mead and it is all I can do to stay focused on this book - I am so anxious to get to this Gabaldon book. LOL
Anna,
I agree, I was not expecting to find it at Wal-Mart - and so soon. :) Get to reading lady, Outlander is wonderful.
Juju,
You won't be disappointed. :)
Patti,
You found Covet at Winn-Dixie? How wonderful. I can't tell you how many times I have found books at Kroger a week or so before Wal-Mart got them. I am so jealous. I can't wait for Covet....will have to look at the grocery store now......LOL
Thank you all for stopping by and leaving a comment, have a wonderful day. :)
M
I saw it at Walmart and Target today.
I was also was shocked to find Generation Dead and Covet too.
Hi Michelle!
Wal-Mart is starting to have quite a book selection. Since I live about an hour away from B&N or Borders, I shop Wal-Mart for books, but they don't carry as much YA as I'd like, at least the one close to us doesn't. This was an excellent thing! I haven't seen it at our's yet.
Dottie :)
I need my Jamie fix so bad, I fast-tracked this from Amazon.
Still, not as convenient as going down to Walmart and picking up a copy! Damn you! (seriously, read it in good health and enjoy your Jamie-fix!)
I've heard so many good things about this series but I haven't read any of Diana Gabaldon's books. Will try them one day. Enjoy!!
