Reviews: Frostbite, Evermore & Tantalize

This is the 2nd book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.

Book Blurb:

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians--including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand to- hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks....This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

I very much enjoyed this book. :)

Rose is very independent and hardheaded to a fault. Her main goal in life is protecting her best friend Lissa - Rose takes her role as Guardian very seriously.

When a Strigoi attack takes the lives of several Royals and their Guardians, Rose immediately wants to strike back - but soon realizes that she is not ready for a one on one confrontation with the stronger Strigoi.

But matters are taken out of her hands when a group of young Guardians decide to hunt the Strigoi - and Rose has to rush in to bring them home before the Strigoi find them - and kill them, or worse - turn them Strigoi.

I love the character of Rose. She is strong willed and very loyal to her friend Lissa. She has a smart mouth - and tries her best to back it up, and with continued practice - I'm positive that one day she will be able to back it up with the rest of them. LOL

I have the 3rd book on the tbr shelf and look forward to reading it soon. :)

I give Frostbite 5 out of 5 stars. :)

I read this series and fell in love with the characters! I bought the first two books and ran out to get the last two because I didn't want to wait!

Patti,

I have read 1 and 2 and have 3 on the shelf. :) I just gave 1 and 2 to my Mom and she said she loved them. :) She wants 3 now. LOL

Ah, Vampire Academy is one of the best obsessions to have. Rose is a kick-ass character. One problem I had with the series (pretty much the only problem) is that I never warmed to Lissa. I couldn't get past seeing her and Rose's relationship as a little 'master/servant'.

Enjoy reading the 'Shadow Kiss' and 'Blood Promise' - and then jump on the bandwagon of impatient readers desperate for May 2010 and 'Spirit Bound' :)
