Review: The Mage in Black.
The Mage in Black is the 2nd book in the Sabina Kane series by Jaye Wells.
Book Blurb:
Sabina Kane doesn't have the best track record when it comes to family. After all, her own grandmother, leader of the vampire race, wants her dead.
So when she arrives in New York to meet her mage relatives, the reunion puts the fun in dysfunctional. Not only is mage culture completely bizarre, but everyone seems to think she's some kind of 'Chosen' who'll unite the dark races.
Sabina doesn't care who chose her, she's not into destiny. But the mages aren't Sabina's only problem.
In New York's Black Light District, she has run-ins with fighting demons, hostile werewolves and an opportunistic old flame.
Sabina thought she'd take a bite out of the Big Apple - but it looks like it wants to bite back.
I love this series and Sabina Kane rocks!!
In Red Headed StepChild Sabina is confronted with the fact that her grandmother - Alpha Dominae - is a nasty piece of work. And not in a good way. Deciding that being an assassin for the Dominae is not all it's cracked up to be - and having lost faith in her grandmother and everything she had been taught her entire life - Sabina heads to New York - to see how the other half lives.
Sabina has just learned that she has a sister - a twin sister - who was raised by the mages - the Dominae's dreaded enemy and in The Mage in Black Sabina meets her.
Once inside the mage stronghold Sabina is overwhelmed by the welcome her sister offers her - and not at all surprised by the suspicion offered from the other mages.
But someone does not want Sabina to have a happy family reunion with her sister - and trying to find out who is responsible for the recent unrest among dark kind - while keeping her own neck safe - may prove too hard for even the best trained assassin.
Sabina is one kick ass lady. I absolutely love this series!!
I give The Mage in Black 5 out of 5 stars and I can't wait for the next installment - Green Eyed Demon - due out March 2011.
