Review: Lover Mine

Lover Mine is the 8th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J R Ward and the story of John Matthew and Xhex.

Book Blurb:

In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. Long divided as a terrifying battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown to himself and to those around him. After he was taken in by the Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was - or his true identity. Indeed, the fallen Brother Darius has returned, but with a different face and a very different destiny. As a vicious personal vendetta takes John into the heart of the war, he will need to call upon both who he is now and who he once was in order to face off against evil incarnate.

Xhex, a sympath assassin, has long steeled herself against the attraction between herself and John Matthew. Having already lost one lover to madness, she will not allow the male of worth to fall prey to the darkness of her twisted life. When fate intervenes, however, the two discover that love, like destiny, is inevitable between soul mates.

Lover Mine is an AWESOME read. :)

I can not review this book without giving away spoilers - so no review, merely statements. :)

As we all know, the BDB series is an ongoing series about the Brothers and their mates. Lover Mine is the story of JM and Xhex - but of course, all the brothers and their shellans make an appearance.

JM is on the hunt for Xhex - he wants to bring her home alive or avenge her death.

Xhex is trying to escape her prison - but it is no use, she is battle weary and broken.

The Brothers are also trying to find Xhex - but they do not know that JM considers her his mate.

We get some background info on Xhex and meet a woman from her past - that is eye opening. :)

Payne makes and appearance and that situation is turned on its head. :)

Speaking of situations - Blay makes a decision that forces Qhuinn to think. :)

Another Brother emerges - one from Xhex's past, and I wonder how that is going to play out.

Okay, that is it. LOL I don't want to give anything away - so I will leave it at this: Lover Mine was a great read. :)

I give Lover Mine 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait for the next installment in the BDB.
