Review: Wicked Harvest

Wicked Harvest is the first book in the Onic Empire series by Anitra Lynn McLeod and a Kensington Aphrodisia Erotic Romance. :)

Book Blurb:

Between duty and desire lies a season of pure pleasure...
Welcome to the world of the Harvester—a warrior bound to take virginity, but never pleasure—and the servant who exists to prepare him for his role. For them, sex equals duty. Until the rules fall aside...and pleasure takes over...

Sweet Release
For Chur, a year's preparation comes down to the single day on which he encounters a succession of exquisitely adorned young virgins. One thrust from Chur frees the women to find their perfect mates...yet he is forbidden to enjoy his work. But Chur's third Harvest changes everything, for the final virgin is none other than his paratanist, a loyal servant who reveals herself to be a startlingly sensuous woman.

Enovese has desired her master since she first laid hands upon him, but her scheme to free them both is complicated by Chur's prideful resistance. Until the Harvester declares Enovese his bondmate, they must maintain a dangerous charade of master and slave. But Chur is determined that Enovese pay for her deception—with delicious, teasing torture all the more pleasurable for being taboo...

Wicked Harvest is my first Aphrodisia Erotic Romance - as a matter of fact, it is my first erotic romance period. :) And I enjoyed this book quite a bit.

Chur is the Harvester - and that is not as exciting as it first appears. Sure he has hundreds of virgins lined up waiting to be 'taken' - but Harvesting is a duty - not a pleasure - for either party involved.

Harvesting is a five thousand year old ritual that marks the beginning of adult hood. Once a person has been harvested - they are afforded citizenship and all the perks that go with that station - and both men and women are harvested - there is a male Harvester for the young women and a female Harvester for the young men.

Each Harvester has his or her own paratanist whose sole duty is to serve the Harvester - teach him or her the ways of the Harvester and prepare them for the rituals that come with their position.

Enovese is Chur's paratanist - and she has hopes of becoming his bondmate - but Chur takes his duty as Harvester very seriously - even though he has grown to resent the harvesting duties he must perform.

You see, Harvesters are told that they will find their bondmate among the virgins they are harvesting - and Chur has waited years to find his - but he has yet to feel that connection with one of the virgins - that feeling that this is the one woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with....and time is running out. Because another wishes to become Harvester - and the Harvester is chosen by a battle to the death.

Wicked Harvest has a lot of steamy, sexy moments - but it also has a really good story - and I liked that. The sex made perfect sense - it didn't feel like it was a book of sex with a little bit of story thrown in for good measure. LOL

I enjoyed Wicked Harvest and I give it 4 out of 5 stars. :)

I would like to also note that Wicked Harvest is up for the NRCA (National Readers' Choice Award) for best first book and best erotic. http://www.okrwa.com/NRCA/nrca_finalists09.htm

Congratulations to Anitra Lynn McLeod!!

Nice review, though I think the while idea of a harvester would just annoy me to pieces.

B,

It is a very different concept from anything I've read before. And I am intrigued with the idea of the female harvester....I wonder if we'll get a book about one of them?

Anitra,

You are welcome. :) Do you see a book dedicated to the female harvester in the future?
