Reviews & Spotlight: Marked and Entwined by Elisabeth Naughton

Marked is the first book in the Eternal Guardians series by Elisabeth Naughton and a Paranormal Romance from Love Spell.

Book Blurb:

Theron - Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He's the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld.

From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn't exist in real life - silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.

She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron's duty to bring her in. But even as a 200 year old descendant of Hercules, he wasn't strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.

As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Eternal Guardians - Argonauts, warriors who protect Argolea. In every generation, one from the original seven bloodlines (Heracles, Achilles, Jason, Odysseus, Perseus, Theseus, and Bellerophon) is chosen to continue the guardian tradition.

Theron is on a mission to recover The Princess. When he tracks her to a strip club - he is amazed to find her fixated on a human woman working in the club.

Sending The Princess back home has Theron thinking he will never see that human woman again - but he is wrong.

Acacia Simopolous has been working two jobs to help support her ailing grandmother. Having lost her mother a few years ago - and never knowing her father, her grandmother is all the family she had.

One night at the club where she waitresses, Casey sees a man she's never seen before. And she is intrigued. But she knows she will never see that man again - men like that never give women like her a second glance.

When she sees the man being attacked in the parking lot outside the club - Casey rushes to help. But what she sees is beyond comprehension. Those things are not human. And now, she has placed herself on their radar.

Casey takes Theron home with her and tends his wounds. Later, in the quiet - she convinces herself that she didn't see what she thought she saw. And ig
norance is not always bliss - especially when something wants you dead.

I give Marked 4 out of 5 stars and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series - Entwined.

AND

Entwined is the second book in the Eternal Guardians series by Elisabeth Naughton and a Paranormal Romance from Love Spell.

Book Blurb:

Zander - The most feared of all the Eternal Guardians. It's rumored he can't be killed, and he always fights like he has nothing to lose. But as a descendant of the famed hero Achilles, he's got to have a vulnerability...somewhere.

Forces of daemons are gathering and have broken through the barrier
s of the Underworld. Now more than ever the Eternal Guardians are needed to protect both their own realm and the human world. Zander can't afford to think about what might have been with the bewitching physician he once regarded as his soul mate. But with eternity stretching before him, he also can't fathom spending his life without the one woman who makes him feel most alive. Perhaps he's found his weakness, after all...

This book was submitted for review and I retain my copy.

Entwined is the continuing story of the Eternal Guardians - Argonauts, warriors who protect Argolea. In every generation, one from the original seven bloodlines (Heracles, Achilles, Jason, Odysseus, Perseus, Theseus, and Bellerophon) is chosen to continue the guardian tradition.

Zander fears he is immortal. Having lived twice as long as his fellow Argonauts, the guardian wonders if he will live forever. After more than 800 years, he has seen his fellow guardians die in battle with daemons or reach the end of their allotted time - and be replaced by new guardians. He recovers from all wounds, even ones so serious they would fell another guardian.

But he can't recover from the wound to his heart. Having found is soul mate ten years ago - and then rejected by her, Zander feels he has nothing to gain by his long life. This attitude makes him reckless in battle. Often to the point of suicidal - if he could die.

His reckless behavior has not gone unnoticed by the other guardians, and with the daemon activity picking up, they can't afford to lose one of their best fighters. But that is what will happen if Zander doesn't get it together - he will be kicked out of the Argonauts - and then what will he have to live for?

Vowing to make his brother guardians proud of him, Zander pledges marriage for the good of the kingdom. After all, being in a loveless marriage for 400 years or so is a mere drop in the bucket for an immortal who will live forever. Right?

I absolutely love this series. :) Eternal Guardians has the same feel as the Dark Hunters. Ms. Naughton has taken Greek mythology and made it her own. :)

I give Entwined 5 out of 5 stars.

B,

You're just gonna have to read it to find out. You know I don't give away spoilers. LOL

Anna,

I really enjoyed this series. I'm hoping we get a book for each of the guys. I don't know who I want to find out more about - Orpheus or Titus. LOL I think Demetrius will have the next book. That should be interesting.

I do not know how many she has planned that are under contract but do know from reading her interviews and stuff that Elisabeth does wish to release a book for each Guardian... I am so happy you liked the 2nd book also, have Marked and if Rhapsody would have let me get it for half price this last sale would have entwined too but it is was not to be found on their listing...
Oh well someday will get it in Hardback to match the other one....

Thanks for the great review. I have finished reading the Lords of the Underworld series, and Black Dagger Brotherhood. I think this series is right up my ally. I'm going to give it a go. Sounds compelling!
