Last week was a pretty good reading week. I found a couple of new to me authors and started some new series. I love it when I find new to me series that have 5 or 6 books established - that means I don't have to wait for the next book to be released. :)
Here's what I'd like to share with you today:
Witch for Hire by Shyla Colt - 4 Stars ****
Young, terrified, and bound to a vampire, Louella Eschete
fled the bayou and swore off magic. Years later, she’s returned to the tiny
town of Cypress, Louisiana to take her rightful place as head of her magical
family, whether she likes it or not.
In order to keep the tentative peace formed between the
various races of powerful beings who rule side by side, she must face her own
demons. Mainly one, Cristobal Cortez. Now a master vampire, and lord of the
seven cities surrounding New Orleans, her former lover has moved up in the
world.
Their relationship gets way more complicated when his court is framed
for a rash of murders they didn’t commit.
Forced to play her role as his bond mate, and launch an
investigation into the darkness threatening to overturn truces, she may be in
over her head.
A Curse of Fire by Sophia Shade - 4 Stars ****
A magical calling card, a murderous secret, and an ancient,
dangerous realm.
The Fae have been hunting Imogen’s mother for nearly
eighteen years. She has something they want: her daughter. Now they’ve caught
up with her, and Imogen’s faced with an ultimatum: attend Fae College by
choice…or by force.
That should’ve been enough warning that Callador, school for
the fae, is a manipulative and dangerous place. But it’s not until the school
is under attack and the students are facing death by curse that Imogen realizes
Callador’s darkest secret isn’t how they get their students to attend.
Redemption by Rye Brewer - 4 Stars ****
A vampire slayer by necessity.
Anissa Garnet is a vampire. She’s also a slayer. Anissa is
no stranger to taking out the enemies of her clan leader. Her assignment is
simple. Jonah Bourke is not to attend the League of Vampires. Ever. It should
have been an easy kill. It should have been one and done. It would have been,
if Jonah Bourke hadn’t saved her life.
An assignment like no other.
Vampire clan leader Jonah Bourke is that one. He didn’t plan
to be a hero. He didn’t want to save the life of the slayer that was sent to
kill him. Maybe he wouldn’t have, if he’d known.
Too late now.
Anissa just compounded his problems. Not that he didn’t have
plenty: A rebellious twin who wants to claim leadership of their clan and a
litany of supernaturals that want him dead.
So what’s a vampire to do when he saves the life of the
vampire girl sent to kill him?
Outbreak by Joshua C Chadd - 4 Stars ****
How far would you go to save the ones you love?
Two brothers learn of the apocalypse after being out of
touch for a few days. Returning to town, they learn first-hand, the dead are
coming back to life with a taste for flesh. With their parents in Nebraska,
they must embark on a journey to rescue them as they set into motion their
zombie apocalypse plan. But they'll see not all is fun and games as they
realize it is nothing like they imagined it would be.
Can they make it in time to save their parents from a fate
worse than death?
Emmett Wolfe has been preparing for this day for years, but
still, cannot believe it is happening. An infection unlike any other has begun
to spread across America and the world as he knows it is coming to an end. He
must rescue his daughter and ex-wife and transport them to a safe location.
But at the end of the world, nowhere is safe anymore…
Magic Calls by Miriam Greystone - 4 Stars ****
A war is brewing beneath the sidewalks of Washington, DC . .
. and Molly just sang her way into the middle of it.
Molly doesn’t know there’s anything unusual about her
voice—she only knows that performing with her band makes her happier than
anything else in the world.
But everything changes on the night that Molly does more
than just entertain her audience—she accidentally entrances them, and narrowly
avoids setting off a riot.
Now, she’s being hunted by a mysterious group that believes
she is descended from the Sirens—and that she’s unworthy of the power she
possesses. To survive, she must plunge into a secret world of human-Siren
hybrids, where there’s no easy way to know who to trust.
With time running out, Molly must learn to wield the power
inside her, before the hunters can silence her forever.
I hope you are reading something great. As always, thanks for stopping by.
~Michelle
