My Week in Review: 9/22/18-9/29/18

I was thinking that I had given the things that go bump in the night their time to shine - it was time to spotlight those on the opposing side.

This weeks theme: Vampire Hunters

Drawing Dead by SM Reine - 4 Stars ****

The vampire slayer is turning into a vampire? Over her dead body.

Dana McIntyre has been bitten by a master vampire. She's infected with the venom. And after killing hundreds of vampires to keep Las Vegas safe, she'd rather die than turn.

There might be a cure. But the only way to get it is through Nissa Royal, a vampire with close ties to the masters of Las Vegas. Nissa is dangerous -- too dangerous to be allowed to live, much less work alongside.

But if Dana dies, vampires win Vegas. If she doesn't die, she becomes one of the bloodless. The cure's her only chance. In this deadly game of hold 'em, Dana's drawing dead, and whatever happens next, there's no changing her losing hand. Dana only knows one thing: If she's going down, she's taking as many vampires as possible on her way out…

All Kat wants is vengeance.

Kat dreams of one thing: driving a stake through the cold, dead heart of the vampire lord who turned her father and killed her mother. When she’s offered the chance to earn magic-laced tattoos that make her stronger and faster, she jumps at it, even if it means working for monsters. Incubi. Seductive creatures who feed off sexual energy. And one of them wants her. If only she could ignore his ridiculously perfect body with those stupid sexy abs…

All Darius wants is Kat.

Lord Darius of House Tarrick has worked hard to earn his title, not to mention money, sex, and power—the incubus has it all. Until some new, wild-haired hunter recruit strolls in like she owns the place, throwing him off balance and igniting an unquenchable fire in him. He wants her. He needs her. And he’ll do anything to have her…

Blood Warrior by H D Gordon - 4 Stars ****

When her home is attacked by murderous vampires, Alexa Montgomery is forced to leave her mother for dead in order to save her sister.

She soon learns that she is the last known member of an elite race of supernatural warriors, and is thrust into a world full of vampires and werewolves who all seem to regard her as some sort of savior.

Meanwhile, Alexa battles a monster within herself that seeks to gain control—a monster that seeks blood.

The hidden city she finds herself in appears perfect, but Alexa's instincts tell her that all is not right within its walls. When she is asked to attend a school of fighters, whose exams consist of gladiator-style competitions, she must decide who she can trust among the smiling faces.

And, when she meets Kayden, a vampire she feels undeniably drawn to, she must decide if she can trust herself.

Sanctified by David Bussell - 4 Stars ****

The city of London is infested with vampires.

Only one person can stop them from rising up and wreaking havoc.
Too bad she’s a twenty-something goth working a desk job in a lost property office.

When Abbey Beckett received a briefcase containing a mysterious dagger, she should have left well alone. But no, she had to fiddle, and now she’s got a brand seared into her palm and an angel telling her she’s the only thing standing in the way of a vampire apocalypse.

Abbey soon finds herself pitted against the evil Judas Clan, a coterie of bloodsuckers that refuse to play by the vampire rulebook. With a unique agenda and a surprisingly heinous way of achieving their ends, the Clan is on track to bring the city to its knees, and after that, civilisation itself.

Does Abbey have what it takes to wield the hallowed dagger, become the city’s protector and defeat a vampire army, or are the streets of London about to run red with blood?

Red Ashes by J A Moore - 3 Stars ***

Being a vampire hunter is hungry work.

John Magnus was your not-quite-so-average orphan-turned-Marine before his convoy was attacked by vampires, leaving him as the only human survivor. John's journey as a vampire hunter takes him to San Diego, where a vicious new foe--and a new family--await him.

John's Uncle, a prodigious vampire hunter, trains John in the finer points of slaying the denizens of the night until an unexpected ambush turns everything upside down, and John is forced to fight against a new threat that he was just beginning to understand.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you see something you'd like to try.
