Can you believe a whole month has passed in this new year? It amazes me how time flies now that I am older. I am enjoying all the new books that have been published, as well as the new to me books that I've found.
Here is what I want to share with you today.
Nemesis by Elle Cross - 4 Stars ****
I have been called many names in my long life.
Kali. Hel. Santa Muerta.
To the Cabal, I am simply Immortelle.
As the daughter of Nyx and sister to the Furies, I was used
to being an ever-living weapon to the Powers That Be that run the Cabal.
As the mistress to War, Death gloried in the carnage I
wrought as I danced with Mischief and Strife.
Until one day, I fell in love with a mortal human who called
me by other names.
Lover. Partner. Wife.
He gifted me with love and peace, and I thought I could be
happy.
And then too soon, he died.
I mourned his death for one year and one day.
On the next day, they came for me. Like I knew they would.
War. Death. Mischief. Strife.
Except they didn’t come to recruit me back. They came to
tell me how my husband truly died.
Now, I have taken on another name… an older name… one that I
hadn’t worn in a long, long time…
Nemesis.
Live by Gillian Zane - 4 Stars ****
Alexis, Blake and Zach survived the zombie apocalypse but
found a new enemy to fight.
Alexis has been taken. Zach and Blake are desperate to find
her. The men are pretty sure they know who took Alexis, but they have to find
those people and that task is a daunting one. There are millions of places to
hide in the swamps of Southern Louisiana and Zach and Blake will not stop until
they've searched every one of them. Alexis will be returned to them if it's the
last thing they do.
Falling back on their military training the men are
confident in their success. The problem is, the group that took Alexis, didn't
keep Alexis. They sold her. She's now the property of the Southern Clan and
there is nothing she can do about it.
The undead still roam the streets of New Orleans. S-Island
mourns the loss of one of its own.
Here Kitty, Kitty by Shelly Laurenston - 4 Stars ****
Angelina Santiago didn't think her life could get any
stranger. Her best friend is a shapeshifter. Her other best friend is in love
with one. And people are actively trying to kill her.
But she never thought
helpful hillbillies would kidnap her, drag her cross country, and dump her at
the home of their eldest brother and gorgeous shapeshifter, Nikolai Vorislav,
for safe keeping.
Nik the Hillbilly Tiger never wanted a woman in his life for
more than a night, but he never met anyone like the psychotic hellcat his
brothers drop on his doorstep. Now he has every intention of showing his little
house pet exactly how strange and sexy life can get.
Outlaw Alpha by Dakota Cassidy - 3 Stars ***
Welcome back to Rock Cover, Maine where biker gangs rule
with an iron fist.
Vampires and werewolves vying for control, and the hatred
between warring clans is stronger than ever. Banned from his gang and
ostracized by his family, a lone vampire will risk it all for one woman.
Forced into a paranormal settlement and dealing with arcane,
sexist mate calls, werewolf Freya Ashe--ex-attorney, current quilter--thought
life couldn't suck more. Unless she factored in her hunger for the sinfully
luscious Liam McConnell--which she didn't. Nope. Uh-uh. Not at all. When you
want someone you can't have, denial is the best policy.
And on top of all that suck, the inconceivable has
happened--Freya was chosen at the latest mate call. By the greasiest,
smelliest, dumbest werewolf ever to rub two brain cells together--Courtland
Dodd. She'd rather chug battery acid than mate with the vile pack alpha, but in
Freya's world, it's either surrender or suffer.
Surly vampire Liam McConnell thought he'd lost everything
when the government segregated paranormals. He was wrong. In recent months,
he's been kicked out of his biker club, Fangs of Anarchy, and shunned by his
very family. He'll be damned if he's going to lose the one woman he lusts for
above all others--even if she is forbidden.
Some Lycan Hot by Michele Bardsley - 3 Stars ***
Seventy years ago, I made a deal with an evil goddess. Save
my true love’s life—and I would walk away from him forever.
I did.
But now he’s found me.
Werewolves are stubborn. And he wants answers. Answers I
can’t give him. Hell, I can’t even let him look at my face. Because if I do?
He’ll die.
Another week in the bag, I hope you are reading something great.
As always, thank's for stopping by.
~Michelle
