This week I read a couple of new to me authors and I was quite pleased with the results. :)
Here are the books I want to share with you today:
Blood Kissed by Vivienne Savage - 4 Stars ****
Running from danger is what Emmaleigh does best, but the monsters of her past are inescapable.
Years after ditching a corrupt coven in San Antonio, Emma is
making a fresh start in Massachusetts as the owner of a new luxury spa. Her
life couldn’t be more peaceful - until a near-death encounter with ruthless
vampire hunters draws attention to her questionable history.
According to the vampire elders, Emma’s old ties make her a
liability. Given one chance to prove herself, she’s plunged headfirst into a
journey to recover a stolen artifact from the hunters—and assigned her own
champion. Unfortunately, he’s also her former lover, a master vampire with his
own motivation for accompanying her.
Despite their differences, Emma and Adrian must work
together to solve the mystery. Her past is coming back to bite her, and the
only way off the council’s hit list is to discover why the hunters want the
relic at all.
Alice in Demonland by RaShelle Workman - 4 Stars ****
In the last millennia a deadly game has raged between demons
and their half-human creations, called Moths. A century ago select Moths were
born with distinctive marks on the backs of their hands. It was soon discovered
that those with the marks possessed the same powers as their demon parent.
Over
the years an elite group of warriors formed The Dark Moth Society. Alice Blackburn is a Dark
Moth trainee. Some of her classmates call her the Queen of Hearts, but only
because she doesn’t share hers.
There isn’t time. Not for fun and especially
not for Kade Everett, the injured warrior she is required to help. In just a
few days, her creator, the foul demon that killed her mom will come to kill
her.
That’s part of the game after all. And when he does, she will end him.
Wolf and Prejudice by Theodora Taylor - 4 Stars ****
Nothing will stop him from claiming his mate…
When her friend, Chloe disappears under very mysterious
circumstances, professor Alisha Ataneq refuses to let sleeping wolves lie. And
she’s definitely not going to let Chloe’s ex-fiance, Rafe Nightwolf, the
powerful Alpha King of Colorado, stop her from finding out what happened to her
sweet friend.
But here’s what Alisha doesn’t know…
Rafe Nightwolf wants her—has wanted her badly for a very
long time. And now that his engagement is off and Alisha is finally within
reach, he won’t let anything or anyone get in his way. Including Alisha.
Which is why in a shocking twist, she goes to extreme
lengths to escape his clutches. But here’s what Alisha doesn’t know… Rafe will
do something even more extreme to get her back.
Crooked Crossroads by Trinity Crow - 4 Stars ****
What if your town had a secret everyone knew except you?
What if you were the secret?
Child Female Lost. Whenever I hear that it feels like I'm
shrinking. It's not a name. It's the description scribbled on the hospital
intake form where the cops dropped me off. Two years old. No one ever claimed
me. And no one ever cared enough to change that first hasty scrawl. It should
have said Child Unwanted.
Now a foster care veteran of seventeen, Child's free ride
with the state ends on her next birthday...in just four days. Finding a place
to live on her budget will take a little fast thinking and a lot of
desperation. Luckily for her, there is a haunted, carriage house apartment with
a price tag she can't refuse and a reputation that makes her the only
applicant.
Evil spirits, protection circles, witchcraft and hoodoo,
Child is convinced all that woo woo stuff is for flakes and weirdos, but one
night in her new apartment sends her running for answers.
Drawn to the curious shop of Crooked Crossroads, owned by
two, eccentric, witch sisters, she finds a gathering place for people of all
magical paths. Inside it's walls, there is something even more terrifying than
black magic and dead people, a community that accepts her as she is. And all
she has to do is trust...
Hidden deep in the bayou, the small moss-draped town of
LaPierre is full of secrets and deception. Here, enemies lurk beneath the faces
of new friends and the home Child has always wanted may turn out to be a trap
she never leaves.
Gravestones and Wicked Bones by Miers & Knox - 3 Stars ***
My sisters and I weren’t born with magic. No, we were forced
into it. Betrayed into it by the one person who was supposed to protect us. Now
we’re living in a shithole desert town at the mercy of a sexy-as-hell Fae named
Bastian.
So far, I’ve been able to buy Violet and Jade time to live
freely, without being held to Bastian’s constant call. I’ve been doing his
dirty work for five long years, but my sisters’ freedom is wearing thin. Soon,
he’ll summon them, just as he did me—and I can’t let that happen.
Bastian’s latest assignment offers an escape for my sisters,
and I’d be a fool not to take it. But my target is more powerful than any man
I’ve faced before and doubly seductive. He draws out my inner
demons—literally—and evading this attraction might prove more difficult than
finishing what I started.
I hope you see something you'd like to read. As always, thank you for stopping by.
