This week I thought I would focus on learning. :) That being said, I was surprised at how many books I found that fell in this category.
This weeks theme: Schools of witchcraft/wizardry
Fallen Academy by Leia Stone - 4 Stars ****
Brielle Atwater isn't sure of much, but she knows a few
things:
1. Having black wings is not normal.
2. Selling her soul to the demons was a mistake.
3. Lincoln Grey is the biggest jerk she's ever met … but not
falling in love with him might prove impossible.
When angels fell from the sky to war with the demons that
ravaged Earth, their combined powers infected humanity. Now, the humans are
assigned one of two fates, being either demon gifted or angel blessed.
After wings sprout from Brielle's back at her awakening
ceremony, she's sure she's an angel blessed celestial. It's not until she sees
black wings that she realizes something is terribly wrong.
Having sold her contract at a young age to save her father's
life means she should be bound for Tainted Academy. That is, until a fallen
angel unexpectedly fights for her to be accepted into Fallen Academy, the elite
school for those that inhabit Angel City.
She's immediately matched with her impossibly handsome
celestial teacher, Lincoln Grey. Laying eyes on him, her first thought is that
her time at the academy might actually be fun, but this theory quickly fades
when she and Lincoln clash on day one. To further prove her admission into
Fallen Academy is cursed, the entire school is thrown into chaos when an Abrus
demon reveals that he knows Brielle's secret.
Now, above all else, Lincoln must
fight to protect her.
To his surprise, the only thing more difficult than trying
to save her … is trying not to fall for her.
Witching on a Star by Erin Bedford - 3 Stars ***
All her life Max knew she was destined for more, but when
she graduated high school, she never expected to find out she was a witch.
Now Max isn't headed to the ivy league college of her dreams
but to the Witch’s Academy, where the spells are real and the classes just
might kill you.
If Max hopes to survive her new destiny she'll have to put
up with mean girl cliques, way too sexy for their own good bad boys, and a
popularity contest she didn’t expect to win.
Turns out, wishing comes with consequences and all magic has
a price, especially at Witch Academy, but Max may find she’s more prepared than
she thought to handle it all.

Outlier by Annabel Chase - 3 Stars ***
My family's past threatens my future...
It's my second year training to become a Sentry of the South
at Spellslingers Academy of Magic and I'm still fighting a reputation I don't
deserve. It was my grandmother's addiction to magic that tarnished our family
name--a grandmother I still love and adore. When she asks a favor of me, I
can't refuse her dying wish...and it sets off a chain of events I never
expected. With the help of a charming and sexy druid, I set out to locate a
missing professor, but what we discover is far worse than we ever imagined.
A fight to restore my family's honor has become a fight for
my life and the lives of everyone I hold dear. Will we be able to find the
professor in time and preserve life in the quadrant as we know it?
Witch Ways by Kristy Tate - 3 Stars ***
Evelynn Marston didn’t mean to burn down the science room. A
little anger, some flames, and an expulsion later, Evie finds herself destined
to spend the rest of her high school years at Despaign Academy—named for
Connecticut’s last convicted witch.
Despite its shadowy past, Despaign has the same cliques as
other schools, and Evie struggles to fit in and to be noticed by the handsome
and mysterious Dylan Fox—that is, until she casts her first spell. But even in
a magical place, evil lurks.
When Evie’s friend, Laurie Silver, turns up dead, Evie must
rely on all her newfound powers and friends to find the truth. But bringing a
killer to justice may require stronger magic and true love, the kind that can’t
be found in a potion.
That's my week in a nutshell. I hope you see something you'd like to try.
As always, thanks for stopping by.
~Michelle
