My Week in Review: 12/15/18-12/22/18

We are getting down to the wire when it comes to Christmas.  I have long been finished with my shopping - but I know a few people who wait until Christmas Eve to shop.  That would make me a nervous wreck.  :)

This weeks theme: Vampires

Not His Vampire by Annie Nicholas - 4 Stars ****

Magic is real. Shifters exist. Trixie Russell knows this. Everyone does. But no one told her about the monster lurking in the basement of the dragon’s castle. Not until it was too late.

Victor Petrov is ancient, and vampires his age should not lose control of their hunger. And yet that’s exactly the problem which landed him chained in a dragon’s dungeon. Then in walks a human female with cotton candy hair who smells like sunshine, her pulse a sweet melody in his parched ears, and the fragile thread of his control snaps. Again.

Like it or not, Trixie is now tied to Viktor's, and he seems short a few marbles. She plans on making his eternity a misery until he reveals they have an enemy in common. Trixie is totally on board with helping him escape so she could get her revenge. After that, she’s done. They’re over. She wouldn’t be his vampire.

Damned Either Way by Erin Hayes - 4 Stars ****

I’m finally free of my family’s curse.
Except now, the world is ending. FML.

Anthony, the vampire that killed my sister and my brother-in-law, has won. I've lost everything. I no longer have my powers. I have no idea where Amelia is. And the vampire I love has surrendered to the hunger that is throwing the world into chaos.

The worst part? I can't do anything about it, because I'm no longer the Harker. Sure, I'm not dying anymore, but I'm barely living at this point.

But there may be one last chance to save us all. If only I can find it in me to make one final sacrifice.

Girl Bitten by Knox & Miers - 4 Stars ****

Death has come for the undying.

As a genetics graduate student, Sasha Keleterina knows a thing or two about blood. She’s courageous, capable, and not the kind of woman in need of saving. But when she’s attacked in her lab, she barely escapes with her life—only to find out she’s becoming one of the undead.

A deadly virus is poisoning vampires in the Portland area, endangering them all. Master vampire Arsen Eskandar is desperate to prove himself and save his people. Following the trail of a recent attacker, Arsen encounters Sasha. She’s beautiful, intelligent, and a fighter, and the attraction between them burns like wildfire. But when the master of a rival clan declares Sasha is not only his—but the cure —a centuries-old war between two ancient vampire clans rises to the forefront and a battle to claim Sasha ensues.

But they don’t know her. The only one Sasha is willing to be claimed by—is herself.

The Undead Detective Bites by Jennifer Hilt - 3 Stars ***

Unlucky. Unrelenting. Uncanny.

Silverthorne, like any other vampire, loved a good pandemic. And why not? She’d lived through several of them in the past century. But now she’s playing for the good guys as a medical examiner. A paranormal street drug doing terrible things to her kind creates a different kind of challenge—returning to Nowhere, Nevada where the murderer leaves her a trail of grisly shifter corpses in this hick mountain community where she vowed to never return.

Her suspects? A sumo wrestling sibling, the ex wife of the sheriff (and her former lover) plus her estranged and oh so very psycho vampire maker.

Soon Silverthorne is tracking a killer who wants nothing less than everything she holds dear in her undead life. Good thing paranormal murder most foul is Silverthorne’s specialty.

The Vampire Wants a Wife by Andie M Long - 3 Stars ***

Running a dating agency can be a killer…

Shelley Linley is sick of sickos. Yet another prankster has applied to her dating agency. This one says he’s a vampire and he wants Shelley to help him find a wife.

Meeting him for a second interview against all her better judgement, Shelley discovers that he has no clue about women. A shame because he’s super-hot, amusing, and has a lot of single friends he could recommend her struggling business to, even if he does say they’re werewolves and demons. She has to help him, even if he’s crazy.

If she can ignore his delusions, she’s sure she can help him meet someone. But when death threats start arriving on her doorstep, Shelley’s not sure she’s cut out for the job…then her dating algorithm states she’s his ideal partner. Now she’s not sure if she should take the risk for love, or run like hell.

There you have them.  :)  I hope you are reading something wonderful.

As always, thank you for stopping by.

~Michelle
