We are moving right along , getting back in the groove now that the holidays have come and gone. I've been reading like a mad woman, like books are just gonna poof and be gone. :) I may need to take a break and binge watch Harlots on Hulu.
Here are the books I want to share with you today:
Nocturnal Magic by C N Crawford - 3 Stars ***
“Remember the darkness. Only the darkness will save you.”
As part of a deal with the god of night, Ursula is sent to
the Shadow Realm. There, she must live in the forbidding palace of an ancient
night demon. Granted--he seems to hate her. But he's easy on the eyes, powerful
as hell, and he's supposed to keep her safe.
But all that changes when the god of night chooses Ursula to
fight for him in series of trials. Now, she must vanquish a horde of lethal
demons, one at a time. Worse--she may have to battle her own guardian, who has
centuries of slaughter on his side. And only one can survive.
In order to live, Ursula must learn to fight like a brutal
shadow demon, and resist the dark temptations of the realm. If she fails, the
god of night will drag her down into hell with him.
Risky Magic by Tori Centanni - 3 Stars ***
I’m Avery Burke. They call me the Trash Witch because I play
fast and loose with spell ingredients. Personally, I think of myself as an
innovator, pushing the boundaries of what magic can do.
So imagine my surprise when the handsome young Witch Council
member Jaden Blackmore asks for my help finding a missing witch behind the council’s
back. No matter how dangerous and reckless it is to defy the council, I just
can't say no to Jaden's beautiful green eyes.
But then parallels to my own mother's disappearance come to
light and enemies crawl out of the woodwork. With the help of Jaden and my
uptight, rule-abiding roommate, Valerie, we must test the limits of my magic
and find the missing witch before whatever happened to him happens to me. And
it turns out my magic may not be what it seems…
The Infected Book 4 by Joseph Zuko - 4 Stars ****
Jim and Karen are finally reunited, but a new horror is on
the horizon. Zombie hoards are around every corner. Every moment is a fight for
their lives.
Will they make it another day?
Or is this apocalypse a death sentence they won't survive?
Shadow's Edge by Jami Gray - 4 Stars ****
Everyone fears what hunts in the shadows--especially the
monsters...
It takes a monster to hunt one, and Raine McCord, forged in
the maelstrom of magic and science, is the one for the job. In a world where
the supernatural shares a shadowy existence with the mundane, a series of
disappearances and deaths threatens the secrecy of her kind and suggests
someone knows the monsters are alive and kicking.
Partnering with the sexy and tantalizing Gavin Durand proves
to be as challenging and dangerous as the prey she hunts. When the trail leads
back to the foundation, which warped Raine's magic as a child, her torturous
past raises its ugly head.
Gavin and Raine sift through a maze of lies, murder, and
betrayal to discover not only each other, but the emerging threat to them and
the entire magical community.
The Vampire Knitting Club by Nancy Warren - 3 Stars ***
Vampires who knit
A troublemaking witch
Who killed Granny — and is she really dead?
At a crossroads between a cringe-worthy past (Todd the Toad)
and an uncertain future (she's not exactly homeless, but it's close), Lucy
Swift travels to Oxford to visit her grandmother. With Gran's undying love to
count on and Cardinal Woolsey's, Gran's knitting shop, to keep her busy, Lucy
can catch her breath and figure out what she's going to do.
Except it turns out that Gran is the undying. Or at least,
the undead. But there's a death certificate. And a will, leaving the knitting
shop to Lucy. And a lot of people going in and out who never use the
door—including Gran, who is just as loving as ever, and prone to knitting
sweaters at warp speed, late at night. What exactly is going on?
When Lucy discovers that Gran did not die peacefully in her
sleep, but was murdered, she has to bring the killer to justice without tipping
off the law that there's no body in the grave. Between a hot 600-year-old
vampire and a dishy detective inspector, both of whom always seem to be there
for her, Lucy finds her life getting more complicated than a triple cable
cardigan.
The only one who seems to know what's going on is her cat
... or is it ... her familiar?
I hope you see something you'd like to try. :)
As always, thank you for stopping by.
